My name is Gitte and since 2009, I’ve managed Avernakø Country Hotel in the island’s old school. It all started 10 years ago with production and a farm store, where the focus was on goat meat, hides, and horn jewelry. We have since expanded with rabbit meat and fur, homemade jam and juice, herbal salts, etc.
Precisely the zero-waste concept of using everything from slaughter animals and the fruits, berries, and herbs of the island – and doing so locally – has become my brand and my pride. Pride, because in this way I participate in boosting the ecology and optimal use of resources, while supporting local jobs.
I have 30 beds available, as well as a restaurant, farm shop and a garden with animals.
Furthermore, I offer rentals of vacation homes and apartments.
